Recruiting middle school athletes can be a sensitive topic, as it involves young individuals who are still developing physically, mentally, and emotionally. I found some general guidelines regarding recruiting middle school athletes.  First, coaches or recruiters should avoid direct contact with middle school athletes for the purpose of recruiting. This includes phone calls, emails, letters, or any other form of communication that targets individual middle school athletes.  However, they can provide opportunities for young athletes to develop their skills, enjoy the sport, and grow both athletically and personally.  This includes participation in youth sports leagues, camps, and clinics, as long as these activities are not targeted to specific recruits and are offered broadly.

School administrators and coaches must also be familiar with the rules and guidelines established by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

If coaches or administrators have any concerns about inappropriate recruiting practices targeting middle school athletes, they should report them to the appropriate authorities or governing bodies to address the issue and protect young athletes.  Overall, the focus should be on the well-being and proper development of middle school athletes rather than early recruitment. Encouraging a positive and nurturing environment for young athletes to grow and thrive is essential in the world of youth sports.
